I have received questions about sungazing from a couple of people that I think everyone would benefit from hearing the answers to. BTW, if you have any questions, either call me at 623-302-3227 or email me at wpurdin@gmail.com.

Q - Is it okay to wear contacts while sungazing?

A - Contacts are fine as long as they are without UV protection. The same is true of glasses and windows. Check with your eye doctor if you're not sure. Window glass should be marked UV protected in a corner.

    Q. - What do you do if the ground is too cold or wet? Can you wear shoes?

A - You can wear leather-soled shoes such as moccasins. However, they are slippery on ice and snow, so avoid wearing them if you have to walk on ice and snow. Also, 100% cotton or wool socks are good. Leather, cotton and wool allow earth energies to enter the body, which is important in balancing the energy you receive from the sun. If the bare earth is wet, find gravel, concrete, or pavement that's dry. If your feet are still cold, it may be better to sungaze inside with bare feet, looking out a door or window (open or with non-UV-protected glass.) In any case, you can do the predawn pranayama and sunrise meditation outside wearing warm boots.
