Perhaps all have heard of the ancient maxim “To know, to dare, to do, and to be silent”. Yet there may be times where an experience is given that ought to be shared at the proper time. In the spirit of the season of giving thanks, I would like to share the story of a most magnanimous blessing showered upon my humble self, made possible by those who, through sacrifice and service, have paved a pathway of light for their spiritual brothers and sisters to find their way home. Such is this community of heartfriends, I must say, and what follows is a true story of the operation of the law of abundance, and a witness to the sponsorship of this activity and our friend and brother David C. Lewis.
Following the retirement of Elizabeth Clare Prophet, I had been searching for another community of light bearing the sponsorship of the Great White Brotherhood. And so it was that I happened upon the Hearts Center web site. I began to read the Heartstreams from the archives (Thank you Boyd!) and clearly felt the presence of the Masters in them. Then one day, a little over three years ago, there came a beautiful Heartstream from Mother Mary requesting the building of a healing retreat. This Heartstream was quickly followed by Heartstreams from Portia and Lord Lanto among others, asking all to align behind the Blessed Mother in her request. This was certainly turning up the heat under my seat, so to speak, and I was compelled to get off my duff and act in some way!
After pondering what to do, I decided to make a donation of the greatest amount I could responsibly bear at that moment, and made a credit card donation, expecting nothing in return. Later, while reading my daughter a bed time story, my wife brought me the phone. On the other end was none other than David Lewis. I was quite surprised that the founder of the Hearts Center would take the time to personally call, and I was immediately impressed with his humility, wisdom, and his deep desire to be a servant of God. The power of the Masters behind him was unquestionable, and so it was that I determined that I would provide whatever help I could in the form of a monthly tithe.
The very next day, I received a call from a recruiter asking me if I was interested in an opening that was right down my alley. I set up an interview for the next morning and by the day after had a job offer from the company that included a substantial raise roughly 33 times the amount I had donated just two days earlier! At the interview, my future boss remarked, “We were nearly desperate on how we would staff this critical position, and it is as if you fell out of the sky!”
The raise allowed me to continue my monthly tithing and I finally was able to attend my first conference this summer at Luckock Park, which was a most beautiful event. I was deeply moved by the love I had experienced at the event, so much so, that my thoughts constantly drifted to the feeling of great gratitude in my heart that I was once again able to experience such a magnanimous outpouring of love from the Masters in such a joyful and loving community of like-minded souls.
With these thoughts on my mind after retiring one night, I was summoned in my finer body by an Ascended Master to an auditorium in a retreat of the Brotherhood, where a large conclave was being held. I was lead to a seat to the right hand side of the podium, where a Master was delivering an address. Suddenly, the Master’s arm swung in my direction, and pointing at me, the Master said “DEFINE ALMSGIVING”. As the master spoke, the word ALMSGIVING was blazing in living letters of flame before my inner vision!
Accordingly, I stood and gave the best definition I could, remarking that the process of giving is more than a one way, one dimensional act, but rather one that involves a connection between the student and the teacher, and that the connection established allows for the flow of virtue to the student. After finishing my answer I turned to my left to see another Ascended Master with the face of an eagle, bearing a broad smile on his face. In the next instant, I was fully awake again in bed!

Quickly, I ran downstairs to my computer and typed in “almsgiving”. The definition which most closely resembled my remarks at the conclave was the Buddhist definition for almsgiving, which is that the act of giving alms establishes a connection to the higher worlds through which the disciple attains merit. What was most amazing though was that the Buddhist term for almsgiving is “dana”, which just happens to be the exact name of the company which had hired me three years earlier after my initial donation!!
And thus ends my story for the time being, and I humbly offer it today as a witness to the great power of the simple act of almsgiving. I call my brothers and sisters not to arms this day, but to alms!
I am gratefully your brother in alms,
    Steve Miller
