The Benefits of Praise in Helping You and Your Child Believe in the Best

The Benefits of Praise in Helping You and Your Child Believe in the Best

Praise is a very important thing. While some people have thought you can overdo praise, and you probably can, it can also help you hold the perfect image of your child.

I’ve noticed that on occasion when I have gotten particularly annoyed at my son, I no longer see him as my adorable, beautiful child, and, surprise, surprise, his behavior acts accordingly. I’ve noticed that when I cease to see him as a cute, sweet thing, that I suddenly feel boxed in and stuck in servitude to someone I am not getting along with so much. Fortunately, I can’t recall the last time I felt like that.

However, I do feel that a regular application of good and loving words does good for both the kid and parent. Here are some of the words I use with my kids:

You are so smart!

I love you!

You are such a good kid.

I am so blessed to have you.

What a kind brother/sister you are.

I am so fortunate to have you.

I love you so much.

I am so proud of you!

You’re so wonderful!

You did a great job!

Thanks for being an awesome kid!

I love you lots and lots!

You’re such a nice kid.

I’m so glad you’re in my family!

Saying these words and many like them, is like a positive affirmation, in fact, I guess it is! It’s a mother’s (and father’s) job to believe in their kids and how better than to affirm the good, the beautiful, the true in them day by day, with as many ways possible.

Please share some of your favorite words of encouragement!
