Kuan Yin known as the Mother of Mercy in the East, has been worshipped by Buddhists for thousands of years. She is the greatest of Bodhisattvas and embodies the totality of compassion for humanity. She removes obstacles, erases past offenses, dispenses mercy, healing and spiritual graces, while always meeting the true inner needs of the soul.

"Hearer of Sounds"

Her shortened Chinese name,  Kuan Yin, means “Hearer of Sounds.” Her full name, Kuan Shih Yin,  means “Hearer of the World’s Sounds.” According to Eastern tradition, when Kuan Yin was about to enter heaven, as she stood on the very threshold, she could hear the cries of humanity. She did not enter but returned to help all who suffer in the earth plane. The term “Hearer of Sounds" can also be translated as “perceiver” or “regarder” of the world’s sounds. She is known in much of Asia as a divine emanation that answers the prayers of those who faithfully call upon her name.

Kuan Yin removes obstacles, erases past offenses, dispenses mercy, healing and spiritual graces, while always meeting the true inner needs of the soul.

Bodhisattva of Compassion

One of her many titles is Bodhisattva of Compassion. Bodhisattva is a Sanskrit word—bodhi meaning "enlightenment"  and sattva translated as "reality" or "existence." A bodhisattva is an enlightened being who has vowed to forgo higher realms and full liberation in order to assist those still struggling in the physical world. A bodhisattva cultivates virtue and pursues his/her spiritual career while on a path of self-sacrifice for the welfare of others and gives compassionate, loving service to humanity and to all sentient life. A bodhisattva (P’u Sa in Chinese) can be a person still in embodiment or a celestial being like Kuan Yin. At this highest transcendent level, the title is mahasattva.

Kuan Yin Mercy Prayer

Kuan Yin is a cross-cultural, nondenominational figure revered by many spiritual and religious traditions around the world. She serves the aspirants of all spiritual heritages and paths. Those who espouse a concept of an impersonal, formless divinity see her as an expression of the essence of compassion, or as a symbol of it. Others who acknowledge a personal Godhead view her as a divine embodiment of this virtue. Some view her as both the impersonal and personal manifestations of divine compassion, with no contradiction. She nurtures the growth of this quality in us through our devotions and our interpersonal relationships with others.

Win Souls with a Heart of Mercy
Purity of Motive of Mercy is My Gift to You Today
Have the Courage to Speak of Compassionate Communication

I am Mercy where you are. If you would be mercy where I am then join me this day in releasing unto the Father anti-mercy into the sun. The sun, as the source of life, is available not only for our nourishment, but [also] in communication with that source, [for us] to send forth [our darkness] for the burning up of all [that is] less than the sunlight of love.
Each year you have renewed opporunity to be mercy. And so it is mete that at the end of each solar cycle, we come together to consider what of the sun radiance of mercy has not been bestowed in the full grace of the merciful heart tenderly, with care, consideration and joy. And then [we may] release all into the sun, whose burning fire will consume, will make new—and then release again unto us the perfection of mercy.
As solar cycles move and the children of the sun grow into an understanding of their divine birthright as sons and daughters of the sun, I say that mercy is key for the receiving of that solar light fully within thy being, beloved ones. What is mercy but love extended to the farthest reaches of time and space extending that grace whereby, though the soul has been bereft of the fullness of its God manifestation, yet love is still present at the core of identity within the heart.
Tapping into mercy, as you would drink the water of life each day, is necessary so that you, as a merciful heart to all life, a bodhisattva of love, may be for all that fountain of everlasting compassion. Purity of motive of mercy is my gift to you this day. Purity of motive of mercy I weave within the inner chambers of your heart, so that the fragrance of your heart may exude to all life that purity. For all must know that only through this quality of purity may mercy be shared fully in your domain and [unto] those who still sleep, abiding in the sea of samsara—for they know not the true mercy of God.
Impart to each one, seen or unseen, the fragrance of mercy. And though asleep in the fields of the poppies of no-sense, they will be awakened through the scent of your heart of purity. Why, many of you have been in a quandry as to how the millions and the billions upon this Earth will one day respond to the teachings of the Great White Brotherhood and accept them fully and embody them and become, once more, one with the Source of mercy.
You as a rose, a violet, a carnation, a lily of mercy may be to these, hope. So, it does not take a strenuous approach to life that seeks to compel and cajole and move one from his point of non-being as a rock. But simply through the grace of the freshness of a new approach of mercy, you may win them, O souls, O holy ones of mercy's light.
The peace of mercy must be known through those who have become peace through the extension of mercy-love. Therefore, if you would see the ceasing of war, then be in the very midst of that conflict the voice of mercy-peace, speaking to all compassion's song, saying to each one, O, souls, leave off of your anti-mercy stance. Do you not know that the simple flower of mercy will win the day?
When one has the courage to speak of compassionate communication in the midst of great conflict, have you not seen how souls are turned back to the light, back to mercy? And there is no longer a division or consternation, but the simplicity of the one heart of mercy-love bourn by that one who has become fully mercy?
So, I, Kuan Yin, ask you to practice this art of mercy-communication, first with each other, using the art of etiquette whereby, through the graceful approach, those who have imperil all about them are made to feel at ease in your presence. And through the acceptance of the stillness of your own presence of mercy-love, they can begin to understand a new approach, a new light, a new life.
Harshness of words and thought patterns still emanate at times from even our best servants. And so consider before the end of this solar cycle this night how you may release, once and for all, these needles of anti-mercy. I take a violet pin cushion and ask you now to send them my way, for I receive them one and all, so that they may no longer burden your hearts.
So, I take these. And through my mercy flame, I now transform them into cosmic darts of mercy, which my angels will send back to you and to mankind to pierce your heart with a newfound love, with a newfound grace of mercy's light. So, hear now the cherubs, using their bows to send these darts of mercy everywhere. O God, I thank you for allowing me to be mercy to life. May all know your heart as I know it, Lord—forgiving, forgetting, but always remembering only love within each heart that beats for thee.
I sing now a song of praise to the Father in my native tongue. [32 second pause as Kuan Yin sings in another plane beyond our hearing.] All souls of China have heard my voice. And they rise now, imploring the Lord for saviors and savioresses who will come to bring mercy back to China. Will you be for them, beloved ones, my heart, my song this coming year, I ask? [Audience responds: Yes] Then sing each day of mercy's love to the people of Chin, for they will hear you, they will hear you. And soon we will win them, O my holy ones, once more to the light of mercy.
