Imagine my chagrin when I realized, after reading some comments on my first sonnet, that I was way off topic. I focused on "What is humor" rather than Saint Germain's actual question "What is the importance of humor on the Path?". For this I apologize profusely. If I had dutifully reviewed my class notes, I probably would have written something like the following:

    ...............The Importance of...............
    ...............Humor on the Path...............

The Path grows steep as we ascend the mount.
Our sinews strain to gain and then maintain
Such pit'ous progress by our own account.
Despair! in air so rare of goal so vain.

God's mercy gives us humor -Awesome tool!-
To shatter gloom, if it we would employ,
Forgive ourselves and even play the fool
For humor is the mirror of our Joy.

Permission granted! Be child-like and free
To soar on zephyrs, glisten with the sun.
Path's teeming beauty, bount'ous fruits now see.
Joy flows, Love glows. Already Vic'ry's won!

With burdens, guilt full laved by Humor's bath
The adept will slide up, not cross, the Path.
