Turning to the student essay pg. 78 of the Sparks Notes on the Tempest. I found a great interpretation of Caliban. It really helped me to understand why Caliban had been made the character he is in the play. Why he is portrayed the way that he is. What a great adept our Francis etal was. His ability to create a portrait for us. Actually a mirror of our human nature. In contrasting the characteristics of the players he gives us insights (a mirror) on our own outplaying on the stage of life. A little late for me to have this 'Ha Ha" however there it is. constance

Caliban reminds me a bit of almost a Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

A mirror of a portion of our shadow, yes?

Never too late to have a 'ha ha'.
