I am requesting information reguarding the placement of our altar in our sancuary. I was told our altar should be set up so we are facing east. Is this accurate? If so, could someone give me the source of this instruction?

Hello, it's Madelyn again.

As part of setting our goals for our Hearts Center, upgrading the design and appearence of our Center is one I am currently outpicturing.

In reguard to images of the Masters, are there any current guidlines given by the Masters as to which images they perfer to be displayed in our santuaries at this time?

Also I would like to hear from anyone who has any input to the prior question I asked about which direction the altar is placed. I have studied Feng Shui, I find no mention of placement of sacred objects.

Hi Madelyn,

In the Christian tradition, the altar is placed against the east wall, so that the congregation is facing east as well. My guess would be that east was chosen to greet the rising Sun every morning. Having said that, I have been in churches where the altar was up against different walls.

There has never been any directive about how to set up altars in The Hearts Center. There are no rules or regulations about this at all. It is really up to an individual or a group or center how they would like to do it. I recommend having candles that can be lit because they help anchor physical fire which is symbolic of spiritual fire. I recommend having crystals, especially amethyst, rose quartz and clear quartz. I recommend having fresh flowers like roses and lilies in pastel colors like white, pink, yellow and violet whenever possible and financially feasible. I recommend a focus of the Chart of Your Buddha Nature as a reminder of our Higher Self. You may also place other focuses of the ascended masters on the wall or the altar as you desire. You may have various alchemical charts of foci there too that you help energize as you pray consciously and with great heart-centeredness.
Ultimately your heart is the most important altar, so even if you have none of the above, by going within and seeing beauty and spiritual radiance and love flowing, you will find peace in your spiritual work and service to humanity.

Madelyn, many years ago I received instruction (previous dispensation) on Altar Etiquette. Not on which way the Altar should face, but yes, I think East is right.

On the objects that are placed on the Altar, everything should face exactly forward. Nothing should be turned slightly left or right. Once all that you are going to place on the Altar is in place, the Altar should be Blessed.
Also, if you add another object later, that has to be blessed also.
The one person that is designated to care for the Altar should wear cotton gloves.
The duster may be washed and reused but not left lying around. It may be placed with the gloves in a clean bag.
Candles should not be blown out, they are put out with a Candle douser.
No matches on the Altar.
Holy Communion is allowed on the Altar.
There are rules about the sword if you keep one on the Altar. I think you should ask David about that.
Generally the congregation is not encouraged to touch the Altar once it has been Blessed.
