I have been getting a lot of information lately about toxic substances,
sometimes hidden in our homes and personal environments. Doctor Mercola has an informative website: mercola.com, the last email I recieved from his free site he talked about the mattresses we sleep on. He claims most mattress manufactures by law must use fire retardents on their products. These toxic chemicals are dangerous, especially to pregnant mothers and more so to the unborn child.

Also standard mattresses have metal springs and siderails which may interfere with our personal magnetic fields, also a dust mite issue.

Dr. Mercola reccomends sleeping on a natural latex mattress. There is also an organic plant based memory foam mattress on the market. Unfortunately the very popular Tempurpedic memory foam mattress is a petroleum based product and gives off toxic fumes.

Sleep issues have prompted me to consider purchacing a new mattress and I would like to make the healthiest informed choice. I would like your input and experiences on this matter, or is it really an issue at all, does it really matter what kind of mattress you sleep on as long as it's comfortable? My inner feeling is that it does matter.

    Blessings,
    Madelyn
