After writing about the importance of Psalm 91 as a talisman and posting my thoughts on the Hearts Center website, I decided to follow the lead of the soldiers and marines and carry with me a copy of this scripture, too. I printed it off the internet, folded it neatly and tucked it into my purse. Little did I know that the effectiveness of this Psalm was soon to be tested.
Two weeks later, I found myself driving the Interstate 15. My sister and I were heading to the U.S.-Canada border after concluding a business trip in Montana. It was raining heavily, and the further north we traveled, the more the sky’s faucets opened. The deluge pounded mercilessly on our vehicle, and I ramped up the incessant swish of the wipers.
Four hours into our journey, suddenly, through the cascading waterfalls streaking down the windshield, I saw a deer.
“No!” I gasped.
Even today, I still see that freeze frame –– a deer standing on the freeway right in front of us and our car piercing the air like a bullet, hurtling straight for this target. My hands tightened over the steering wheel. I felt myself preparing for the inevitable –– smashing into that deer!
It didn’t happen.
The creature scampered off the road, and our car whizzed safely through what was destined to be a horrible accident.
Stunned, I whispered to my sister, “Archangel Michael saved us.”
Later, I remembered the talisman in my purse, Psalm 91: “There shall no evil befall thee.....For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
The Psalm 91 talisman works!
