Contrary to popular myth, THE BODY DOES NEED FAT. IT MUST BE THE RIGHT KIND, however.

Essential fatty acids have desirable effects on many disorders. They improve the skin and hair, reduce blood presure, aid in the prevention of arthritis, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and reduce the risk of blood clot formation. FOUND IN HIGH CONCENTRATIONS IN THE BRAIN. A DEFICIENCY OF ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS CAN LEAD TO AN IMPAIRED ABILITY TO LEARN AND RECALL INFORMATION.

EVERY LIVING CELL IN THE BODY NEEDS ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS. They are essential for rebuilding and producing new cells.

There are two basic categories of essential fatty acids, designated OMEGA-3 and OMEGA-6, based on their chemical structures. OMEGA-3 EFAs, including alpha-linolenic and eicosapentaenois acid (EPA), are found in fresh deepwater fish, fish oil, and certain vegetables oils, among them canola oil (GMO), flaxseed oil, and walnut oil. OMEGA-6 EFAs, which include linoleric and gamma-linolenic acids, are found primaeily in raw nuts, seeds, and legumes, and in unsaturated vegetable oils, such as borage oil, grape seed oil, primrose oil, sesame oil, and soybean oil (GMO). In order to supply essential fatty acids, these oils must NOT be subject to HEAT, either in PROCESSING or COOKING. HEAT DESTROYS ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS.

The daily requirement for essential fatty acids is satisfied by an amount equivalent to 10 to 20 percent of total caloric intake.

A number of sources of essential fatty acids are recommended in this book, among them fish oil, flaxseeds and flaxseed oil, grape seed oil, and primrose oil.

The Book: Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Fifth Edition, A Practical A-to-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & Food Supplements by Phyllis A. Balch, CNC, page 81, ISBN 978-1-58333-400-3.

Unfortunately, the fish oil trend train is barreling down the tracks, fueled by misinformation. It is powerful popular -- and HARMFUL. DO YOUR BEST TO STAY OUT OF ITS WAY. Instead of fish oil look for fish-free, PLANT-BASED, algae-derived OMEGA SUPPLEMENTS.

Whenever you start to feel persuaded by the arguments in fish oil's favor: FISH OIL IS THE SNAKE OIL OF TODAY! TREAT IT WARILY. IT WILL NOT FULFILL ITS PROMISES.

    CANCER IS CURABLE!!!

It's true, we require healthy fats! I have also read that when we eat trans-fats, processed fats that are in all fast food and many packaged foods, it stiffens the cell walls and the good healthy fats can't get to where they need to go! So if you take the healthy healing oils, be sure to eat a whole foods diet and avoid trans fats so the healthy oils can do their job for your brain and all you cells.
It is interesting that the good fats are called Omega fats. The divine mother is nurturing us with oils!
