"What is most important for the life of a tree? Its roots. The trunk, branches, flowers and fruits are only the forms, colours, flavours and perfumes through which the roots manifest. The roots themselves are black, ugly and misshapen, but what they produce is magnificent. If there were no roots, there would be no trunk, branches, flowers or fruits. No one standing in awe before a tree ever thinks of the roots, how intelligent and capable they must be to have the power to create such a splendid form. They remain hidden, never mentioned, but if they are destroyed the tree is finished. On the other hand, if its roots are in a good state, a tree can be reborn even if its branches are dead. This is a question worth reflecting on.

We can say the roots are represented in us by the solar plexus. Everything we are capable of producing and manifesting comes from these roots, from the solar plexus."

I just began reading The Elves of Lily Hill Farm by Penney Kelly to my mother. she's 95 and losing her sight to glaucoma and macular degeneration (the untreatable type), and
finds the story very interesting and entertaining. she has
enjoyed my reading an Anastasia book to her, so I thought this would be a natural followup. It is such an amazing story Penney tells of her encounter with some very down to earth and funny yet very wise elves. I cannot help but have tremendous respect and admiration for the wee folk.

these elves keep us so rooted to the problem of the nature of balance in our daily lives. they demonstrate a huge patience and tolerance to human beings who get so involved in such petty and human/mundane events that they overlook what incredible things man can do. when he/she takes the time to
consider the nature beings who look after and watch us as we
trouble ourselves with why this, why that, solutions become apparent. all we have to do is pay close attention to nature
and be willing to humble ourselves to learn from the beings of nature. instead of getting by on chump change with our
limited outlook , we can be realizing an incredible abundance in ways we never conceived possible if nature
was so transparent to everyone. I bow to Nature for all her
    production in spite of us.
