The third Journal Reflection Sojourn during the morning session would be good to reflect on before the class. And it would be good to print out the Yellow Brick Spiral resource on the course page to have it ready to write on.

When I did this reflection, I realized that ever since I had been on the spiritual path since 1970-71, when I joined a Gurdjieffian esoteric school, I had faced a similar initiation approximately every 7 years as Saturn squared, conjoined or opposed my natal sun. From my study of astrology, I knew that a 7-year cycle is a Saturn cycle and that Saturn is the planet of initiation. So, I constructed the yellow-brick spiral with each revolution consisting of 7 years. You don't have to know astrology to do this exercise. Just reflect on your past and remember times when you faced major initiations on the path. Then think ahead or back from that point in time 7, 14, 21 or 28 years and see if you faced similar initiations. If you do know astrology, look at your horoscope and get out an ephemeris to see when Saturn conjoined, squared, or opposed a sensitive planet in your chart. Then think back to those times and remember what happened that challenged you.

The purpose of this exercise is to show how we are slowly progressing on the path and learning our lessons, with each revolution of the spiral bringing more difficult lessons in the same subject matter, just as children learn progressively more difficult math, science, etc. We can also use it to predict what may be coming and prepare for it.
