This is my project to reclaim some of my property for productive use by creating a retaining-wall terrace garden. This has made a steep, weed-filled area into 360 square feet of premium garden space which is right outside my back door. We plan to beautify the retaining walls with stucco and coloring this summer or next and to create a pond at the base of the wall at the north end.

Way to go Boyd! We live on a very windy hill in sunny AZ and we have found that mulching the planters and around the trees and berry plants is extremely helpful in conserving water--worth the investment and labor! Gardening is simply a lot of work whatever way you look at it! Some tasks are not as labor intensive as others so it all balances out to rewarding activity. Our mums and gladiolas are our front yard pride and joy!
