As I meditated after reading the 4th Chapter in Blessing, The Art and The Practice; I am drawn to one of the original meanings of blessing which is "to consecrate with blood". As a youth in the mid "60's I attended Camp Ondessonk in southern Illinois and was voted in and initiated in a Holy Ritual into the Lodge of Tekakwitha, a very mystical ceremony that included bonding with our blood from our finger tips with the person next to us while we were standing blind folded in a circle in the pre-dawn hours around a bonfire in the forest. And I consciously became aware of all the blessings I have and still are receiving from this experience. And may I give a blessing to you if you choose to visit the camp website at www.ondessonk.com and watch some of their videos to commune with God in nature. I am truly blessed with these memories and can continue to visit this mystical place in my mind's eye whenever I choose.

Since the last class on "Blessing" I've been reminding myself to bless everyone as I go about my daily life as Mona described she did at the post office. I'm finding that consciously blessing life helps me to feel closer to God, my Presence. I have a loving, soft feeling inside when I remember to bless life during my everyday chores and work. I try to visualize all those that I drive by being blessed and all the people that I work with as being blessed too. I visualize the air and land being blessed too. It makes me feel happy and fresh. This week I saw my students (3-5th graders) as being straight from Heaven. I think I had this visualization as a result of calling for their "blessing".

So far, my experiences of being in a state of "Blessing" has made my life more fun! Now, rather than feeling 'stuck' in traffic or getting irritated by demanding children I try to remember to visualize Blessings. It changes my attitude to be much lighter!

[ I just got a little epiphany- Rather than focusing on my "feelings" of irritation, sorry for myself, being stuck, etc., I can choose to bless life around me. It then takes my attention off of my negative 'feelings' and focuses my attention on blessing others. Focusing my attention on something positive like blessing life around me helps me to focus on my God Presence! ----- Isn't it funny how writing helps to come to certain understandings?! ]

I am more in tune to my feelings. As I am driving, and what I perceive as reckless, instead of thinking a thought that would not be conceived as being positive, I started to bless the person driving instead. This was quite an eye opener! It felt good and I even had a sense of joy in doing this. And once I sent a blessing to whomever was driving the vehicle I desired to bless something else. So I blessed the trees and the birds, the neighborhood I was driving through, Wow, what a revelation. I am so grateful for this teaching on blessing, I am beginning to bless my children and grandchildren instead of being critical of some action or behavior. This knowledge awakens you to every thought and feeling, what am I thinking, what am I feeling about a situation, instead of my typical, I think I will send a blessing!
Thank you Mona and David and my Master Jesus for this life altering understanding.
