Rich suggested people listen to part 1 of his interview (more of a lecture) before the Q&A session. It's at http://sunlightenment.com...ard_blumenthal-1.mp3

I enjoyed the Q&A session with Rich Blumenthal

However I'm very confused by when is the safe/beneficial time to sunbathe. Being VERY light skinned, I have always avoided the sun in the middle of the day. I could burn in less than 15 minutes! I come from a family with people with red hair and freckles.

Master Omraam: sunbathe in the morning. afternoon could be harmful
Course Handout: Avoid middle of the day. morning and afternoon OK
Rich Blumenthal: sunbathe in the middle of the day.

So far I have sunbathed at 10 am on weekends or at 4 pm during the week! Am I wasting my time at 4 pm or even harming myself?

    Marla,

Your question doesn't have a simple answer because it depends on five factors: the person's skin color and sensitivity to sunlight, the time of the year, the time of day, the latitude, and the surroundings.

However, there are certain basic principles that are true for everyone and every time and place:

    1. Morning is better than afternoon, as is true with sungazing. The closer to noon, the less time you should spend sunbathing, but again that will depend on the other four factors.
    2. Moving around is better than lying still.
    3. Gradually build up (Zane Kime recommends adding 2 minutes a day till your skin is lightly pinked, staying at that amount of time till you're tanned, then continuing adding 2 minutes a day.)
    4. Nude sunbathing is best for total health.

Also, I would not use tanning booths, throw away my sunscreen, and avoid showering immediately before and after sunbathing.
