I had attended the Summit lighthouse summer conference in Montana and was on the bus
going to Billings, where I would spend the night before flying home the next day.
On the bus, I started a conversation with a young woman sitting next to me.
I told her I was from Illinois and I had attended a spiritual conference in Corwin Spring,
near Gardiner. She said she was originally from Peru and was living in Atlanta with her Mother.
And to my surprise, she said that she also had attended the conference. We did not see
each other as there were thousands of people at the conference. I told her that I was spending
the night in a motel in Billings, as my flight to Chicago was the next morning. She said her
flight to Atlanta was also the next morning. I asked her which motel she was staying.
She said that she would spend the night at the airport. I told her that I was concerned about her
spending the night at the airport. She told me that she had to, because she did not have enough
money to pay for a motel room. She just had enough money to buy snacks from the vending
machine at the airport. We were quiet for a few minutes. then I said to her that I would like to help her.
I told her that I will pay for her motel room and for her meals. I told her that she will have a good
night sleep and dinner tonight, and breakfast in the morning before going to the airport.
I said, " the motel has a restaurant and they have a shuttle van going to the airport."
She thanked me for my kindness. when we got to Billings, we went to the motel, where they had
a room available for her. We had dinner together and breakfast the next morning before leaving
for the airport. Her flight was before mine, so before she got on the shuttle van, we said goodbye
and I wished her a good flight home. As we said goodbye, she had tears in her eyes, she thanked
me again and she said, " you know, my Mother will never believe this." She gave me a hug.....
