THE FALSE POWER OF EGO - A webcast on October 10, 2011 held by Oprah Winfrey as a LIFECLASS lesson featured spiritual teacher and author Eckhart Tolle discussing the issue of the Ego and how it manifests itself.
They identified the Ego as a false sense of self, perhaps reaching the level of self-absorption, reminding viewers of the story of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflected image after seeing himself in a pond for the first time. Eckhart Tolle described this "Narcissism," as it has come to be known, as an "obsession with the image of oneself."
He points out in this class that ego usually takes on one or two modalities:
1) USING OTHER PEOPLE
2) ENVY, JEALOUSY (THREATENED BY OTHERS)
