Kuan Yin Shares Teachings on Maintaining a Merciful Heart amidst Duality.

Kuan Yin known as the Mother of Mercy in the East, has been worshipped by Buddhists for thousands of years. She is the greatest of Bodhisattvas and embodies the totality of compassion for humanity. She removes obstacles, erases past offenses, dispenses mercy, healing and spiritual graces, while always meeting the true inner needs of the soul.

"Hearer of Sounds"

Her shortened Chinese name,  Kuan Yin, means “Hearer of Sounds.” Her full name, Kuan Shih Yin,  means “Hearer of the World’s Sounds.” According to Eastern tradition, when Kuan Yin was about to enter heaven, as she stood on the very threshold, she could hear the cries of humanity. She did not enter but returned to help all who suffer in the earth plane. The term “Hearer of Sounds" can also be translated as “perceiver” or “regarder” of the world’s sounds. She is known in much of Asia as a divine emanation that answers the prayers of those who faithfully call upon her name.

Bodhisattva of Compassion

One of her many titles is Bodhisattva of Compassion. Bodhisattva is a Sanskrit word—bodhi meaning "enlightenment"  and sattva translated as "reality" or "existence." A bodhisattva is an enlightened being who has vowed to forgo higher realms and full liberation in order to assist those still struggling in the physical world. A bodhisattva cultivates virtue and pursues his/her spiritual career while on a path of self-sacrifice for the welfare of others and gives compassionate, loving service to humanity and to all sentient life. A bodhisattva (P’u Sa in Chinese) can be a person still in embodiment or a celestial being like Kuan Yin. At this highest transcendent level, the title is mahasattva.

Kuan Yin Mercy Prayer

Kuan Yin is a cross-cultural, nondenominational figure revered by many spiritual and religious traditions around the world. She serves the aspirants of all spiritual heritages and paths. Those who espouse a concept of an impersonal, formless divinity see her as an expression of the essence of compassion, or as a symbol of it. Others who acknowledge a personal Godhead view her as a divine embodiment of this virtue. Some view her as both the impersonal and personal manifestations of divine compassion, with no contradiction. She nurtures the growth of this quality in us through our devotions and our interpersonal relationships with others.

On January 13, 2008 Kuan Yin began delivering a series called Missives of Mercy for those who would be bodhisattvas of love. In these releases of light, she desired to direct the currents of mercy into the deepest recesses of our consciousness. By our reverent and respectful attentiveness to this flame of compassion and forgiveness, she will weave a garland of light around the Earth. View list

Greater Healing of Body, Mind and Soul:
The Mission of Bodhisattvas

I am the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Healing, and I come in answer to your call for a greater and deeper healing of body, mind and soul. You have sought wholeness; and yet, blessed hearts, wholeness has always been there right within you for you to embrace.
The bodhisattvas are those who have pledged their lives in service to humanity such that wholeness may come fully within, embraced lovingly. For we provide the means whereby compassion may fully be yours and wholeness may once again be restored. Our vows to save sentient beings are made to glorify God within the least of these, the holy ones who have forgotten their Buddha nature. And we lead them gently across the sea of samsara to the Pure Land of the Buddhas where they may always know the perfections of wholeness, mercy and love.
Our mercy light is shared with all. Our compassionate hearts are yours to invoke. And through the Om Mani Peme Hum and simply the all-encompassing Aum, you call us to your side and we embrace you heart to heart. And the extension of mercy comes as an expansive light to remind you of who you are. Each bodhisattva sings the song of the One with grace and humility, with hand outstretched, extended unto you. And as the sacred flow is issued through our hearts, healing and wholeness may once more be yours.
The bodhisattva wisdom is simply to allow God to be self-sustained within always. For God knows best what is needed and the infinite wisdom of the All-Encompassing One provides for you the way, the truth and the light whereby your life, lived within God, is for the holy purpose of expanding his mercy-heart, her mercy-grace to all.
The crystalline radiance of the flow of each bodhisattva is delicately colored by her personal auric radiance, based on her attainment of mercy and forgiveness, kindness and compassion. And so often, I send my representatives to you to extend a specific antidote to those poisons which you have taken in that have colored your vision, your view on life or of others. For even the best of God's servants within the earth require a gentle washing, a gentle cleansing by mercy-light to bring them back into harmony, oneness and perfect love. I have sent one unto you who has graced you with my presence of light. And those of you who truly listen with intention to the inner message behind her words will know the conveyance of my heart personally to you.
Your spirit may soar when you leave behind all attachments to form. But once, having attained to formlessness within God's mind and heart, then God gives all to you in order that you may serve also as a bodhisattva of love. Some claim that they seek pure oneness and yet remain attached at some level to the lesser self.
And so I come this day to say, let go, let go, let go, O soul, of the attachments and hold on to my apron strings of mercy-light that will lift you right out of your predicament, which is only what you see from the human level. For all encumbrances, all that which you have allowed to be attached to you, you may release through the holy breath of mercy [Kuan Yin exhales slowly and audibly through the mouth.] and then receive in great joy all that we bodhisattvas would convey of a spirit of Buddhic light for your full ennoblement as God-realized solar ones.
Maitri, Maitri, Maitri, Maitri. O compassionate Maitreya, O holy kindness of the all-pervading one, come forth. Maitri, Maitri, Maitri, Maitri. O Maitreya, bless these, heal these. Repair their auras now with your holy emanations of light, O Maitreya divine.
The heart of every bodhisattva is a mercy-heart, is a heart of compassion, a heart of love. I raise my thousand arms to extend rivulets of mercy-light in all planes of being to all sentient ones for perfect healing, for perfect wholeness, for oneness within God's mercy-heart. I am Avalokitesvara, your Sister of Mercy.
