Kuan Yin known as the Mother of Mercy in the East, has been worshipped by Buddhists for thousands of years. She is the greatest of Bodhisattvas and embodies the totality of compassion for humanity. She removes obstacles, erases past offenses, dispenses mercy, healing and spiritual graces, while always meeting the true inner needs of the soul.

"Hearer of Sounds"

Her shortened Chinese name,  Kuan Yin, means “Hearer of Sounds.” Her full name, Kuan Shih Yin,  means “Hearer of the World’s Sounds.” According to Eastern tradition, when Kuan Yin was about to enter heaven, as she stood on the very threshold, she could hear the cries of humanity. She did not enter but returned to help all who suffer in the earth plane. The term “Hearer of Sounds" can also be translated as “perceiver” or “regarder” of the world’s sounds. She is known in much of Asia as a divine emanation that answers the prayers of those who faithfully call upon her name.

Kuan Yin removes obstacles, erases past offenses, dispenses mercy, healing and spiritual graces, while always meeting the true inner needs of the soul.

Bodhisattva of Compassion

One of her many titles is Bodhisattva of Compassion. Bodhisattva is a Sanskrit word—bodhi meaning "enlightenment"  and sattva translated as "reality" or "existence." A bodhisattva is an enlightened being who has vowed to forgo higher realms and full liberation in order to assist those still struggling in the physical world. A bodhisattva cultivates virtue and pursues his/her spiritual career while on a path of self-sacrifice for the welfare of others and gives compassionate, loving service to humanity and to all sentient life. A bodhisattva (P’u Sa in Chinese) can be a person still in embodiment or a celestial being like Kuan Yin. At this highest transcendent level, the title is mahasattva.

Kuan Yin Mercy Prayer

Kuan Yin is a cross-cultural, nondenominational figure revered by many spiritual and religious traditions around the world. She serves the aspirants of all spiritual heritages and paths. Those who espouse a concept of an impersonal, formless divinity see her as an expression of the essence of compassion, or as a symbol of it. Others who acknowledge a personal Godhead view her as a divine embodiment of this virtue. Some view her as both the impersonal and personal manifestations of divine compassion, with no contradiction. She nurtures the growth of this quality in us through our devotions and our interpersonal relationships with others.

Kuan Yin's Missives of Mercy
On January 13, 2008 Kuan Yin began delivering a series called Missives of Mercy for those who would be bodhisattvas of love. In these releases of light, she desired to direct the currents of mercy into the deepest recesses of our consciousness. By our reverent and respectful attentiveness to this flame of compassion and forgiveness, she will weave a garland of light around the Earth. View list

Gaining Mastery in Being Merciful
The Sacred Processes of Mercy

In mercy-joy I come to expand the merciful heart within you, each one. As you gain mastery in being merciful, which comes through listening to the Divine within all and being accessible, as an accomplice to the Divine Mother—to simply understand, to be and then to radiate that mercy light—you, blessed ones, may begin to know the heart of mercy in greater measure.
The principles of mercy have always been ensconced within your heart. And though at time[s] the pain that comes to you is difficult to bear, yet even this is for the purpose of bringing greater mercy into your life, through your being. Feeling the anguish and the suffering of mankind, the bodhisattvas come radiating light to dissolve the darkness that is at the root of suffering. For when mankind know that the going out of the way from Presence in some way is the cause and core of suffering, then by mercy-light those who come to extend grace, forgiveness and joy within the very center of the lotus of mercy may gently take the hand of one and all and lead them to the fount of perfect beingness.
Forgiving self, you move into a field of greater forgiveness whereby the light of mercy may truly manifest itself in all areas of your life. But sometimes unless and until you are challenged by a reflection of that which may still be lingering deep within your subconscious, the mirror of mercy may not be there for you to perceive what yet remains to be understood as nonresolution. And therefore we place before you the very friends of your Higher Self, who come not to assail the True You but to give you opportunity to know Self as divine.
This is the fulfillment of [Jesus'] prophecy of the separation of the tares and the wheat¹ [as he spoke of it in his own parables and as later elucidated in the Book of] Revelation.² [The process] first begins within your own being. And once you have fully come to terms with this reaping of what you have sown, then you will understand the sacred processes of mercy and of how, by God's grace, the harvest of light is established and the great joy in the return of the prodigal consciousness to the Father-Mother is won.³
The alchemy of perfect mercy may be yours daily as you forgive life and are merciful through a beatitude of beingness, of listening grace, of picture-perfect presence and especially [through] entering into solar beingness through the joy and the light of the eye.
Kuan Yin I am within you. Mercy I sustain for the Earth and for every soul who would both know and be that mercy flame. Yes, blessed hearts, every particle of divine beingness within nature sings of mercy, wooing you back to the divine embrace of the Mother's heart.
In the stillness of lotus-light within the dawn, I come. And I establish a garden with many tiny pools within it here in this space, where thousands of mercy lotuses may sing to your heart the song sublime of your own ascent into the lotus heart of God. Take time to appreciate one another, including the tiny elementals, the hidden Buddha within and the mercy- light that flashes forth from within every star-fire aspect of God within all.
I am singing the song of mercy-joy within you. Listen and hear me, O blessed ones.
